A perennial herbaceous plant of the cereal family. The leaves are light green, long, narrow, smooth and sharp. The flowers are inconspicuous. During growth, it forms a voluminous bush and, unlike other herbs, does not spread over the site. This delicate perennial has a light lemon scent and citrus flavor. It is added as a spice in soups and stews. Lemongrass goes well with cilantro and red pepper. It is very good to add lemongrass to tea with cloves. To use lemongrass in cooking, the leaves are removed, leaving only the lower part of the stem. The plant loves bright sun, warmth and moisture, prefers sandy soils. It can be grown in the garden, in pots, and in greenhouses.
